The HKCCA and The Hong Kong Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) are proud to announce the launch of their Women in Law and Business Series, kindly hosted by Slaughter and May.

In the first of this series, HKCCA and FIDA Members will enjoy a panel discussion between two former lawyers turned social enterprise entrepreneur and charity founder respectively, followed by cocktails and canapés.


Anne CHEN, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Elite Thai Boxing and Fitness, Hong Kong's first social enterprise which was founded in October 2015 and aims to empower at-risk or underprivileged youths through thai boxing and fitness and provide them with training and job opportunities.

Anne is a lawyer admitted to practise in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Singapore, and several states of Australia. After she graduated from the University of Hong Kong she joined Baker & McKenzie. In 2001 she joined Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) in Shanghai (which was then a start-up) as VP of Legal & Finance and played a key role in assisting the SMIC founder to turn SMIC into China’s largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry and successfully list it on the NYSE and the SEHK in 2004. Anne also subsequently opened a representative office for SMIC in Hong Kong.

Anne was elected as President FIDA eight times between 2000 and 2014 and she is still a Council Member, Chair of the Martial Arts Committee and Chair of the Youth Committee at FIDA.

Anne has received various awards for charitable work and services, including the 2010 Pro Bono Distinguished Service Award by the Law Society of Hong Kong, and the 2015 Hong Kong Outstanding Women Volunteers Award by YWCA.

Andrea FESSLER, is theFounder and Executive Director of Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, a registered charity that brings the best classical musicians in the world to Hong Kong for performances and outreach since 2007.

Andrea is a 1991 graduate of Harvard Law School and a Canadian citizen who has been a resident of Hong Kong since 2004. Ms Fessler received a Commendation from the Home Affairs Bureau in 2012 for her Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Culture, and in June 2015 she was awarded a Women of Hope Award for Art & Culture by the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation. Together with her husband Davide Erro, she also founded Time Out Hong Kong magazine.

Prior to founding Premiere Performances, Ms. Fessler was an international corporate lawyer, working in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. She started her legal career in the corporate department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and London (1993-1998), followed by positions at Ashursts in London (1998-2000) and Freshfields in Tokyo (2001-2003), where she was seconded to Cabot Corporation as acting Asia Counsel until 2006. She was also a member of the legal department of Star TV in Hong Kong (2007-2009), supporting the Business Development team.


Benita Yu is a Partner at Slaughter and May and President of FIDA. Benita read law at Oxford University and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and Hong Kong, and speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Benita is listed as a top tier lawyer in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2017, Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2017 and the IFLR 1000 2017 for Capital Markets and Corporate/M&A.
