Cybersecurity Benchmarks: The cybersecurity landscape is constantly evolving, with new and more sophisticated cybersecurity threats emerging daily. The corporate law department plays a significant role in all aspects of managing cyber risk, from preparedness and prevention to breach response. According to the first edition of the ACC Foundation: State of Cybersecurity Report, 61 percent of general counsel indicated that third parties were required to notify them of a breach. One in four had retained a forensic company to help them in the case of a breach, and one in three retained outside counsel. This year, the ACC Foundation will take a deeper dive into cybersecurity from the law department’s perspective on topics such as third-party risk, compliance, and best practices.
